Frequently Asked Questions

Basic training is for beginners and covers the fundamentals — anatomy, equipment, infection control and venepuncture technique — with a full practical day. Advanced training builds on Basic over three days of supervised practice and ends with a competency assessment.
No prior healthcare experience is required. Basic training is designed for complete beginners, while also offering focused practical development for existing healthcare workers.
Successful learners receive a certificate confirming completion of the programme and its assessments. The accrediting body and CPD hours are shown on each course page.
The course gives you the practical skills and certificate that employers, including NHS trusts, look for in entry-level phlebotomy applicants. Each employer sets its own requirements and will normally complete its own competency sign-off.
Training begins with trainer demonstration and simulation-arm practice. More advanced supervised practical activities may be available under trainer approval, informed consent and the programme’s clinical safety protocol.
Online theory, the face-to-face practical session, use of all clinical equipment and practice materials, assessment and your certificate on completion. All prices include VAT.
Completely. The day starts with theory and simulation-arm practice, and you only move on when you and your trainer feel you’re ready.
Public classroom dates are running in London. Birmingham, Bristol, Cambridge, Cardiff, Edinburgh, Glasgow, Leeds, Manchester, Sheffield and Swindon are being scheduled — select a city above to register interest. Group training runs nationwide.
