Module 01: Introduction to BSL and Fingerspelling

Module 06: Colours
This module introduces learners to signs for a wide range of colours. Learners will practise describing objects, clothing, and environments, enhancing communication clarity and expanding descriptive vocabulary in BSL.

Module 07: Transports
Learners will study signs for different modes of transport, travel activities, and journeys. The module provides practice in giving directions, discussing travel plans, and using BSL to communicate clearly about transportation scenarios.

Module 08: Weather
This module teaches vocabulary and signs for weather conditions, seasons, and climate. Learners will practise expressing daily weather, planning activities accordingly, and using accurate expressions and gestures in context.

Module 09: Directions
Learners will develop skills to ask for and give directions effectively. The module focuses on spatial awareness, positional signs, and clear communication to ensure others understand accurately in everyday navigation situations.

Module 10: Activities/Hobbies
This module covers signs for hobbies and leisure activities. Learners will practise discussing interests, describing routines, and engaging in conversations about personal and recreational activities confidently using BSL.

Module 11: Work

Learners will develop vocabulary and skills related to workplaces, jobs, and daily work activities. The module focuses on discussing occupations, responsibilities, and work routines while building confidence in communicating about professional life in BSL.

Module 12: Describing People and Animals

Learners will explore signs used to describe the appearance, characteristics, and behaviours of both people and animals. The module emphasises clear, structured descriptions using appropriate facial expressions and classifiers to enhance meaning and accuracy in communication.

Module 13: Foods and Drinks
This module introduces vocabulary and signs for foods, beverages, and dining scenarios. Learners will practise discussing meals, preferences, and ordering in restaurants while conveying information clearly and contextually in BSL.

Module 14: Illnesses and Health

Module 15: Asking Questions about Jobs
Learners will develop skills to ask about occupations, job roles, and responsibilities. The module emphasises forming clear questions, understanding responses, and engaging in professional conversations using appropriate BSL signs.

Module 16: Job Vocabulary and Signs
This module teaches vocabulary for professions, workplaces, and employment activities. Learners will practise discussing career-related topics, understanding occupational terminology, and expressing workplace information accurately.

Module 17: Types of Buildings
Learners will study signs for different types of buildings, including homes, offices, and public structures. The module covers describing locations, functions, and navigating environments using correct and expressive BSL signing.

Module 18: At Home: Rooms and Items
This module introduces vocabulary for household rooms, furniture, and common items. Learners will practise describing domestic spaces, daily routines, and familiar objects while communicating clearly in a home context.

Module 19: Describing Each Room
Learners will develop skills to describe rooms in detail, including layout, furnishings, and activities. The module emphasises sequencing information, clarity, and using expressive signs to convey precise descriptions.

Module 20: Day to Day Routine
This module teaches signs for daily activities, schedules, and routines. Learners will practise describing their own and others’ routines accurately, using temporal markers and structured signing for coherent communication.

Module 21: Emotional Signs
Learners will explore vocabulary and signs for emotions, feelings, and moods. The module focuses on expressing emotional states effectively, incorporating facial expressions and body language to enhance understanding in BSL conversations.

Module 22: Emotional Stories
This module teaches learners to tell stories with emotional content using BSL. Learners will practise narrative structure, sequencing, and expressive signing techniques to convey meaning and engage the audience.

Module 23: Countries and Flags
Learners will study vocabulary for countries, nationalities, and flags. The module covers discussing travel, geography, and cultural identity while using clear, accurate, and contextually appropriate BSL signs.

Module 24: L2 Itemising/Listings (including Stories)
This module focuses on listing items, ideas, or events clearly in BSL. Learners will practise organising information logically, using proper sequencing, and incorporating storytelling techniques to communicate effectively.

Module 25: L2 Multi-Channels Sign
Learners will explore multi-channel signing techniques, combining hands, facial expressions, and body movement. The module develops fluency, accuracy, and expressive communication for complex conversational and narrative scenarios.

Module 26: Transport Homework
This module provides practical exercises to consolidate learning related to transport vocabulary and conversations. Learners will apply previously learned signs in structured practice, ensuring confidence and accuracy in real-world contexts.
